A superb game with Fletching's batting and fielding pipping Maresfield into 2nd place in the end.

Sarah Hanham scored 93 not out and Jo Meacher scored a quick 39 runs before being caught out on the boundary. They were supported by Sharon (11 ct) and Rachel (Bradders - 13 run out).

Maresfield appeared to be too slow in the field on quite a few occasions and there was a lot of fumbling the ball which allowed Fletching to show what a great team they are at running 2's.

However, there were catched by Sue, Ali & Sheila and two superb examples of fielding that ended in two run outs.

    Sue; 4 overs; 47 runs; 0 wickets; 5 extras
Chantelle; 6 overs; 68 runs; 2 wickets (ct); 0 extras
Sheila; 4 overs; 44 runs; 1 wicket (ct); 6 extras
    Rachelli; 1 over; 23 runs; 1 wickets; 10 extras

Ali Yaafe & Sheila Horscroft opened for Maresfield but Ali was out on 15 runs in the 3rd over (caught by Lynn off Rachel's bowling). Sheila continued on but looked to be struggling and ended up with a runner (Ali) before ending on 47 runs (run out). Lesley scored 39 runs before being caught by Sarah off Rachel's bowling.

Tracey (8 run out), Chantelle (9 run out), Vicky (17 ct), Kandice (0 ct) & Sue (3 ct) came out and pushed the score on with lots of 2's but it wasn't quite enough with them all getting out. Rachelli (2) and Tracy Allen (3)ended the innings not out.

Rachel; 8 overs; 85 runs; 4 wickets (ct); 11 extras
Sarah Hanham; 7 overs; 92 runs; 1 wicket (ct); 14 extras

Catches by Lynn, Kaz, Rachel & Sarah (2)

Maresfield players noted an awful lot of obstructions from Fletching's bowlers. Unfortunately, at times they appeared to take offence at Maresfield's players shouting MOVE to them and requested that we say excuse me or be a little more polite about it.

Unfortunately, the shouting of MOVE is not intended as an insult to the fielding player but is used to warn the umpire that a fielder is obstructing their route to the wicket and if you make this call it allows a batsman to appeal to the umpire if they are run out and feel that the obstruction by a fielding player was the cause of them not reaching the wicket.

All stalwarts of the game of stoolball know that a fielding players should stand to the side of the wicket to receive the incoming ball and should not obstruct the wicket.
