On a damp 'summer' evening, we visited Bluebells and hoped to improve our luck this week with a win....

We won the toss and chose to field first. Chantelle & Sue bowled well and the fielders did an excellent job of keeping the score down, particularly great performances by Jane, Annabel and our slip fielders, which included Rachel Toft, also stopped so many shots this evening.

The first wicket came at the start of the 5th over with Sue bowling Margaret on 11 runs. A few balls later Sue struck again, ending Caroline's innings on 1 caught & bowled. Maggie & Linda stayed our for most of the rest of the match until Maggie was caught out by Lesley off Sue's bowling on 45 runs, in the middle of the final over. Linda was then run out on the last ball, having scored 42. There were only six 4's hit in the innings and the final score was 119.

    Maggie 45 caught
    Linda 42 run out

    Maresfield bowling:
    Sue; 8 overs; 71 runs; 3 wickets (1 bowled; 2 catches); 15 extras
    Chantelle, 7 overs; 47 runs; 0 wickets; 2 extras

Ali & Tracey K started the batting innings for the Mares with 20 runs off the first over!
Some fantastic batting by both ladies (with lots of cheers from the girls & our supporters & barks from Millie and Marge!) & we scored 109 runs mid-way through the 7th over before Ali was caught out by Sam off Libby's bowling. Tracy Allen went out & we pushed on to 119 runs by the end of the 8th over. Tracey K retired on 51 runs and we were all thrilled to see Rachel Toft return to the field for the Mares. Tracy Allen was then caught out on 10 runs by Maggie off Margaret's bowling in the 10th over. Rachel hit a superb 33 runs before being bowled by Helen. Jane & Kate ended our innings on 12 and 5 not out respectively. Our final score was 192!
