4. Matters arising from the last Management meeting

  • “Escape to the Country” is being aired on BBC 1 at 2.15pm on Tuesday 1 May 2012
  • AAH (All about Horsham) magazine is interested in doing an article on stoolball which will feature clubs in the Horsham area and should provide good publicity for the new clubs
  • Eastbourne Red Triangle League: A meeting was held at a venue in Polegate between Stoolball England members John Price, Trevor Parsons, Richard Emsley and Kay Price and Eastbourne Red Triangle members Dave Parks, Cindy Cavie and Rachael Pantenay. A number of issues were raised and areas where help could be provided were discussed.
  • The artwork for the large scorebook and the tournament scorebook has been completed and they have now been printed
  • Schools coaching: The programme for the Horsham area has been finalised and requests to undertake taster sessions at several schools in East Sussex have been requested.
  • Umpires and Scorers courses: The feedback from these courses was very encouraging and ideas suggested for future courses will be taken on board. A full report has been added to the website.
  • Stoolball club survey – In his absence Richard Emsley reported that he has made a start with the project and he has contacted all the equipment agents suggesting that it would be a great help to him if they keep detailed records of the equipment they provide to the clubs in their area.

5. Treasurer’s report

Trevor Parsons reported that there was a surplus for the period of £756. Equipment sales were going well but he felt that the price of the tournament scorebook should be increased from £2 to £3 because its printing cost was higher than that of the larger scorebook. It was agreed by a majority vote that this increase should be implemented from May onwards.

6. National Ladies Team

Three dates have been booked at Horsham Cricket Club, two for training days and one for the match – Sunday 23 September 2012, Sunday 30 September 2012 and Sunday 7 October 2012. It was agreed that nominations should be in four categories – batsmen, bowlers, wicket-keepers and all-rounders and that letters to all 10 affiliated bodies associated with ladies stoolball should be sent out in May. Items of clothing were discussed with shirts and tracksuit tops at the top of the list.

7. Heritage Funding

Anita Broad is currently working on an application to fund her school education package and members of Stoolball England met up with her prior to their visit to Etchingham Primary School in East Sussex.

8. Community events

The first of the community events is taking place at Winchester on Sunday 20 May and the list of events has been updated to include the “active days” being organised for schoolchildren in the Wealden area during the summer holidays.

9. Reports from members of the Management Committee

  • Insurance: Michael Ledwich reported the agreement of a three year deal with Endsleigh which now includes a professional indemnity limit of £1,000,000 and a potential sponsorship deal.
  • The club survey has been reported on earlier and progress on the club accreditation scheme with Sport England and Active Sussex has been halted for the time being.

10. Any other business

  • Supplies of wickets and bats for loan to schools and new clubs are running out. It was agreed to put a request on the website to clubs for bats that they no longer use, ie a new ball for every bat donated. Action Rick please.
  • A request for coaching at Amery Hill School in Alton, Hampshire has been passed to Shirley Reed and she will liaise with the school.
  • Trevor Parsons offered to help at the TakePart Festival in Preston Park, Brighton on 23 June 2012

There being no further business, the meeting closed at 10.10pm.

Next meeting: Friday 25 May at 7.45pm at 53 Kings Road Horsham.
