Crawley Down wins Junior League Championship

Saturday 17 September 2011, 8.00am

The Junior League Championship final between Ringmer (winners of the Mid Division junior stoolball league) and Crawley Down (winners of the Central Division junior stoolball league) was played at Nutley on Sunday 11 September 2011 over 20 overs.

Batting first, the Crawley Down team scored confidently with Mel (33), Jodie (31 not out) and Rianne (29) making the major contribution towards the final score of 140 runs in their 20 overs.

In reply, the Ringmer batsmen got off to a good start, but the bowling of Jodie (5 wickets), Mel (three wickets) and Ellen (2 wickets) ultimately proved too much as they were dismissed for 75.

In the 2010 junior final, Crawley Down shared the cup with the Newick junior team when a thrilling game finished in a tie, but this year Crawley Down deservedly became Sussex Junior Champions outright.
