3. Minutes of the last Management meeting

The minutes were signed and approved as a true record.

4. Matters arising from the last meeting

There were no matters arising that would not be covered in the agenda.

5. Treasurer’s report

Trevor Parsons reported that there had been no movement since the last meeting in September. He was pleased to report a surplus of nearly £4,000 on the year’s trading and he would be meeting up with our accountant at Stoner Cottingham later in the week so that the accounts could be approved in time for the Annual General Meeting at the end of November. A great deal had been achieved during the year with the publication of the Coaching Manual, the printing and distribution of the trifold leaflet as well as the production of Stoolball England business cards.

6. Government spending cuts

It was reported last week that the Partnership Development Managers (PDMs) and School Sports Coordinators (SSCOs) have all been given notice and their positions will be officially terminated in April 2011. This will have a tremendous impact on school sport, particularly in the junior schools where there are very few sport specific members of staff.

7. Coaching planning for 2011

It is planned to coach in schools in the Midhurst area in West Sussex and in the Dorking and Horley areas in Surrey, but following the news contained in the Government spending cuts, this may not happen. In two weeks time, Stoolball England will be meeting up with Becci Camis (Allan) and Holly Sutcliffe, who are both Competition Managers in Sussex, when it is hoped to learn more about the extent of these cuts and what will be possible on the school coaching front in 2011.

8. Committee nominations for 2011

At the last meeting Kevin Hilliard confirmed that he would not be standing as Vice-Chairman at the AGM but would continue to administer and update the Club Accreditation Scheme. Potential candidates would be approached in the next few weeks. The Management Committee were also asked to approve the nomination of Kelvin Speirs to oversee the rules and umpiring duties for Stoolball England. This was duly done.

9. Any other business

  1. Newsletter: It was decided to request the league results for the summer from each affiliated body and put them on the website. It was agreed that a paper copy of the Newsletter would no longer be produced.
  2. Stoolball England have received a request from a sports catalogue by the name of Consortium, located in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, who would like some stoolball photos to include in their new publication. They have supplied us with details of the stoolball equipment they currently supply (bats, balls and wickets).
  3. Coaching courses: Stoolball England have received details of a number of courses which would be useful for new coaches to attend to widen their knowledge, eg “Safeguarding and Protecting Children”, “Equity in your Coaching”, “Coaching Children and Young People” and “A Club for All”. Details will be circulated to potential candidates.
  4. Mixed stoolball in West Kent: Richard Emsley has resurrected the West Kent Mixed Stoolball League this season with four teams taking part.
  5. President’s Award: Possible nominees for this award were discussed and a final decision was made.

There being no further business, the meeting closed at 9.30pm.

Date of next meeting: Annual General Meeting at Wivelsfield Village Hall in the Renshaw Room: Sunday 28 November, 10.30 for 11am start
