Correspondence

Central Council of Physical Recreation (CCPR)

October 2006 Policy update and a copy of the Memorandum & Articles of Association of the CCPR which were approved at the recent AGM in July.

Association for Physical Education Members Year Book

Phone call, followed by a letter from Stephen Macey, asking if the NSA would be interested in placing an advert in The Association for Physical Education Members Year Book 2006-7. It is anticipated that the circulation with be 10,000, which will include – I quote “Government Ministers, Civil Servants, Government Agencies and their Welsh and Scottish equivalents, International Partners of the Association for Physical Education, Higher Education Institutes and National Universities and finally Commercial Partners of the Association for Physical Education”.

It was decided that we should consult with Melissa Mantle to see if this would be a suitable arena to advertise our DVD ‘Let’s Play Stoolball’ and our new Coaching DVDs, and the NSA.

National Rounders Association

Enclosing their latest price list and equipment listing.

Treasurer’s Report

Peter Cheesman reported that the NSA financial year finished at the end of September and since that time not a lot had happened. There was a surplus for the month of £284. The secretary mentioned that a quantity of large and tournament scorebooks would need to be ordered before next season.

Development of stoolball and coaching video/DVD update

The Level 1 course at Chichester finished on 10 October and the students had an annual challenge match afterwards.

Melissa has had further contact with Rhys Beale from Plumpton College and is hoping to set a date in March to go to the college and run a Level 1 course. She has quoted him a price of £30 per person with an option of a sweatshirt at £15.

Insurance update

There was nothing to report on the insurance front this month.

Website/publicity

A lot of interest has been raised by the new website, but we still need to move some of the old material.

Sport England update

A letter was finally received at the end of September which confirmed the rejection of our second application. It would appear that, other than the lack of national or international competition, stoolball meets all the remaining recognition criteria.

Any other business

  • The NSA needs to follow up Enhanced CRB checks with the Media Group.
  • Newsletter – Request from Shirley Reed that reminders are sent out to Eastbourne Red Triangle, Hailsham Mixed, the five Sussex Divisions asking for their final league tables.
  • At the AGM we must emphasise the importance of welfare officers being elected by associations, leagues and clubs.

Date of next meeting: AGM – Monday 27 November 2006.

The meeting closed at 9.50pm.

Kay Price
