Statistics for your team

Sunday 9 August 2009

Example statistics for a teamWhen you add your matches and results online, you now get improved statistics for your team. We’ve had charts on team pages comparing home and away performance for a while, but we’ve now added a ‘View statistics’ link that shows you your results broken down season by season, totals of the runs you’ve scored and given away, and which opponents you’ve played – and beaten – most.

We’ll be adding more statistics in future, so it pays to make sure your results are up-to-date and complete. If you want to see more you can even dig out your old scorebooks and put your past seasons’ results online to see whether you’re improving. If there’s a chart you’d like to see which we’re not providing, please let us know. If it’s possible to add it, we will.

Charts: Another reason to get your results online

Thursday 29 May 2008

Example chart showing matches won and lostLook again at your team’s page on this website. If you’re adding fixtures and results you’ll now see charts showing your performance at home and away. North Division has joined Mid Division, Hailsham, Lewes, Mid Sussex and others in putting its fixtures and results online, so they can watch their league table update throughout the season. If your team’s missing out and you want to know more, contact us.

There are lots of advantages to getting your matches online:

  • Access your fixture list from anywhere there’s an Internet connection – even on your mobile.
  • Easily send your fixtures to anyone by telling them your team’s web address: www.stoolball.co.uk/yourteam.
  • Add all of your fixtures to your calendar in one go, whether you use Outlook, iCal, Google Calendar or something else – no need to retype them.
  • Watch your league table develop as the season is played – this can genuinely generate interest in your league. Ask us how to turn it on.
  • If you regularly nominate a “player of the match” we can prompt for details when you update the result – just ask us.
  • Charts showing your team’s performance home and away in the current season and over all seasons. It’s not too late to add previous seasons’ matches if you want to see how well you did.
  • Once you’ve added a match you can edit it or delete it if you made a mistake – an improvement we’ve added for this season.

If you’ve any suggestions for how we could improve the match information on this website any more we’d like to hear them – please contact us.

Add your results to this website

Monday 30 April 2007

You can now sign in and add your match results to this website yourself. We’ve made it really quick and easy, so you can update the results of several games in one go if you want to. Just go to your team’s page, or your league’s page, and click the ‘update results’ link.

We know you don’t always remember all the scores, so if you just know who won you can tell us that, but if you know how many runs were scored you can tell us that too and if you know how many wickets fell that’s even better. But if you don’t know it all don’t worry, just leave it blank.

This is the latest way to use stoolball.co.uk to help your team. Remember that you can already:

Don’t forget to add your match dates to the website. If you don’t do that first, you won’t be able to add the results.

Talk about your matches

Saturday 10 June 2006

Look up any match on this website, and you can now add your own comments about the match. You could post a match report, talk about a particular incident, or celebrate a great performance. It works just like the forums, and the messages even appear in the forums too so everyone will see them.

Of course, this is only available for matches we’ve been told about. If you match isn’t listed yet, please contact us with your fixture list and we’ll add your matches to the website.

Arrange a friendly match using our forums

Saturday 13 May 2006

Want to arrange a match? Need new players for your team? Looking for a team to play for? If you need any of these then post a message about it in the forums. You can get an email any time someone posts a message to the forum, so you’ll always know when someone’s looking for a match.

To get an email whenever someone uses the forum, just subscribe to the ‘Subscribe to this forum’ link on the forum page. You can always cancel the email later by signing in to the website and choosing the ‘Edit profile’ option.

Make this website work for you

Saturday 6 May 2006

We can put your fixture list online. We can help new players to find your team, or your team to find a match. We can even work out your league table automatically. But to do all that, we need you to send us the information. To start, tell us about your team.

We ask who’s out there every year. If you’re playing stoolball, or you know someone who is, we want to know about it. If your team has stopped playing, we want to know that too. We use the information for all kinds of things, including the list of teams in our ‘Play’ section.

Players can go there to find a new team to play for, or to find another team to play against on a spare night. Even if your information on there is correct, we’d like to hear from you just so that we know you’re still playing. So please, tell us about your team.

Tell us about your matches too. Send us your match dates and we’ll add them to your team’s page, to your competition’s page, and to the list of the next 5 games. Once you’ve played, tell us the result and we’ll add it.

If you can tell us the dates of all the matches in your season, the results of each match as they come in, and how your league works (is it two points for a win and one for a tie?) we can calculate your league table automatically. We’re already doing it for the Lewes stoolball league.

So go on, contact us now.
