Stoolball coaching in Crawley schools

Thursday 12 August 2010

Stoolball England broke new ground in summer 2010 when we conducted two successful stoolball coaching programmes at after-school clubs at Hazelwick and Oriel, the two main secondary schools in Crawley. The programme covered the basics of fielding and throwing the ball, both over arm and underarm as well as the techniques of bowling and batting. Strong emphasis was placed on the need for positive communication between both batsmen when running between the wickets.

Horsham Schools Festival a success

Thursday 15 July 2010

Stoolball England successfully completed its second Festival of Stoolball for primary and junior schools at Horsham Cricket Club just minutes before the heavens opened to bring the rain that had been expect from midday onwards.  With 20 teams from eight schools in the Horsham area playing in four groups, it was non-stop action for 4½ hours.

A match in progress at the Horsham Schools Festival 2010

The whole day proved an excellent finale to the programme of stoolball coaching which was carried out on behalf of Stoolball England by local coaches Becky Hull and Ruth Arthur, and the talents shown by the children on the day were a tribute to their coaching this summer. This is good news not only for the local secondary schools, Millais, Tanbridge House and The Weald, but also for the local ladies clubs at Horsham, Roffey, Barns Green, Wisborough Green, Forest Green and Oakwood Hill, in addition to emerging clubs at Broadbridge Heath and Warnham.

The whole coaching programme was funded by Sport Unlimited and supported by our local Horsham Leisure Link.
