Personal Accident Insurance
All stoolballers know that accidents can and do happen and that they can mean hardship for club members and their families. Insurance protection isn't expensive, and many clubs are now able to help their members after an accident.
Stoolball England has taken out a Personal Accident Insurance for Amateur Sports Clubs policy by Royal Sun Alliance Group, one of the largest and most reputable insurance companies.
The major benefits are:
- the policy covers all members aged between 5 and 74
- the policy covers members playing, officiating or spectating at the club's home or away games
- benefit of £5000 is payable for loss of eye or limb and for death while taking part in stoolball
- an income benefit of £50 per week is payable for temporary total disablement
- for members not in regular gainful employment, the income benefit is limited to the period of hospitalisation (if any) resulting from the accident
- income benefit is provided for up to 104 weeks while temporary total disablement prevents a member from his or her usual occupation
- income benefit is not payable in respect of the first seven days of disablement
The premium for the above benefits is £2.50 per club member plus a £5 administration charge. Clubs can also opt to pay an extra 50p per club member to cover spectacles and dentures to a value of £100. (The spectacles/dentures option is only available to all or none of the members.)
