County Cup Tournament at Seaford results

Tuesday 28 August 2007

Eighteen teams from the five divisions of the Sussex County Stoolball Association took part in the 51st County Cup tournament held at the Salts Recreation Ground at Seaford on Sunday 5 August.

This end of season tournament was played in four sections with 35 matches of four overs each.  Nearly 5,000 runs were scored on the day but, despite this feast of runs, it was the teams with the slickest fielding, catching and throwing abilities who eventually won through to the final stages: Horsted Keynes, Angmering, Stone Cross and Clymping.

In two closely-fought semi-finals, Horsted Keynes beat Clymping and Angmering beat Stone Cross to set up another very competitive final game, with Angmering the eventual winners.  This was Angmering’s 10th Cup win and makes them by far the most successful team in the history of this competition.
